RM Seafood ROCKS – We ate downstairs where it was more casual, but you have got to go. Server gave us a whole education on sustainable seafood too. It was awesome. Try the shrimp!

Wouldn't eat here on a bet – Wow, what a disaster of a restaurant. After making my reservation 3 weeks in advance, get a last minute phone call from the twerpy hostess telling me I had to move my time, causing me to notify a lot of my dinner guests. After being seated in the crappiest table in the restaurant and after repeatedly asking for another table, it just took $20 to have another table magically appear.

If you are looking for a droll FOUR HOUR dinner, then this is the place. When presented with the several of the courses, my guest laughed out loud at the ridiculous presentation. Terribly embarrasing to say the least. How can you bring out a football sized plate with a portion that approximated a small grape. Service was slow to the point of wondering if there were still employees in the back. Food simply passable, most of which was easily surpassable be a run of the mill backyard chef.

Honestly, how DOES this place stay in business - oh yea, I forgot, $200 per person should do it nicely.

Thanks a lot RM for a train wreck of a business dinner.

Top Chef Master makes good – Like many restaurants at Mandalay Bay, RM Seafood is hard to find. Once you get there, though, you'll find it's worth the trek. Among the appetizers, we enjoyed the fried calamari and the raw oyster sampler. The "moon doggies" (Top Chef Masters challenge winner) were somewhat gamey, yet still savory and palatable. For entrees, I had the breaded swordfish, which was moist and delicate, and for sides the BBQ mac & cheese is a must. Considering the inevitable letdown that comes from visiting most celebrity chef establishments, RM Seafood stands tall above the TV Personality crowd.

litlle-known gem tucked into a corner of Mandalay Bay – This was my first time staying at Mandalay Bay. It is a tradition of mine to scope out all the upscale restaurants at the new place I will be staying and pick out one to try. I was certainly not disappointed with RM Seafood. Our reservations were for an early time, so we had no problems being seated right away. In fact, there was only one other couple dining in the restaurant. It made me a little hesitant, but the service and food that followed set my mind at ease. Besides, by the time we left 2 hours later, the place was packed.

Anyway, I cannot say enough good things about the staff. My date was my mom, and being from a foreign country, it was difficult for her to communicate with the staff. However, everyone was very patient with her - something I truly appreciate since I have experienced countless rude waiters in the past. The appetizer, a tuna tartare, was excellent, as was the bread that came with a phenomenal spread. Our actual meals were great. My short ribs were a teany bit dry, but my mom's sea bass with lobster ravioli (one of their specials) was delicious! We ended the meal with a sorbet trio that was sufficiently light enough for us to enjoy without being overly stuffed.

My only wish would be for this fabulous restaurant to be moer centrally located. It's tucked away in the corridor between Mandalay and Luxor. With its outstanding service and equally impressive food, I would think it would be displayed on their "restaurant row" (where Aureole and rumjungle are).

Surprisingly very Good – In a town full of very well publicized great restaurants with very well known chefs, we also like to try the not so marketed spots to see what they can put out.

RM surprised us with a very good sushi dining experience.

The sushi chef was very interested in what we wanted and listened to our requests. he also made some sugestions which all turned out to be delicious.

Our group tried several of their soups and they were fantastic. The miso was incredibly hearty and a bit creative.

Some of my friends had offerings from the pasta portion of the menu, which I found them to be nuts to do since this is a seafood restaurant. They wish they had listened because their pasta dishes were average at best, but hey you don't go to a steak house or Italian restaurant and order sushi now do you.

The staff and service were very attentive and not pushy, which many restaurants in LV are - trying to upsell you on everything at every moment.

The overall design of the spot is clean, but I'm not in love with the erector set metal vibe they have accomplished.

I'll be back and be back soon - for the sushi and service.

Nice but pricey – Three of us had the tasting menu, which at $150/pp (including the butter-poached lobster) seems a little extreme for the food that arrived. I enjoyed nearly all of the dishes (tomato broth overwhelmed some nice lobster ravioli), and a few of dishes were real standouts: tender swordfish in green curry, the green apple and vodka drink that came with the tartare, a seared scallop with a smear of sherry reduction, etc. The matching wines were $70 and very well done. Based on our empty plates, I would say that desserts were a success. For the most part the flavorings are subtle, and if you don't like subtlety you may not appreciate rm as much as I did.

I recommend rm, though I have to say that I think the meal I ate wasn't quite worth the price I paid for. But that seems to be par for the course in Vegas.

Fresh seafood choices abound at this elegant, yacht-inspired Mandalay Place restaurant. – In Short
This intimate second-floor restaurant features vibrant ocean murals, crystal glass separating each room and light woods that look like they came directly from a yacht. A mixture of linen-covered tables and half-moon leather booths fill the dining room floor, while the adjoining lounge features an L-shaped mahogany bar that's ideal for pre-dinner cocktails. Fresh seafood choices range from fork-tender yellow fin tuna dashed with Moroccan spices to wild mushroom-crusted halibut.

Good Food, Great Service Reasonably Priced – I've visited this place several times, including the bar. I found the bartender personable and polite. Perhaps the individual who did not like the bar was rude. The food was very good, the service wonderful and the ambience was nice. My only complaint was the younger ground (under 25) who were very loud and vulgar. Completely ruined the experience on two occassions.

A Wonderful Rick Moonen Experience – Regarding the review above. I am not sure why one would sit at a fine dining restaurant's bar and then write a negative review about the restaurant and not discuss the food. In addition, I have been fortunate enough to dine at three restaurants at which Rick Moonen was the chef... Oceana, RM New York, and RM Las Vegas, and as usual, the food is outstanding. I really like the fact that he will only serve sustainable seafood and that of course, he prepares it in such a unique manner. The caviar is great and the least expensive in town. There is a vast selection of oysters. The sommelier has a wonderful palate and is able to complement any meal, either with a pairing or with bottle recommendations. Overall, I love coming here!
