Editorial Review for Forty Deuce at Mandalay Place – by Ryan Slattery

In Short
Kane brings the same seductive vibe here as the Forty Deuce predecessor in Hollywood. This spin-off inside the new retail mall, Mandalay Place, is a roomy 4,500 square feet and features a low bar, plush lounge chairs and tiered seating. Men and women alike enjoy the old-school striptease routines performed with a three-piece jazz combo in the classy, hip "back-alley" joint. After each show, a DJ keeps the crowd going well into the morning.

I like Forty Deauce because it was small and lively and had a different vibe. The show is okay, not great but it breaks up the evening and is something different from the rest.

Pros: Not so crowded

Cons: not crowded

This club is very nice inside, and the show is great. I gave it such a low score because the club charges you $20 cover [not outrageous for the quality of the show] but........THERE IS NOWHERE TO SIT AND VIRTUALLY NOWHERE TO STAND. The bouncer took great pleasure in telling me "there are only four chairs [with no view of the stage] unless you get bottle service. The bottle service menu was an average of about $250 a bottle and you literally cannot get a seat unless you pay for bottle service. I dont even object to the price of the bottle service BUT they should be clear about this before sucking you in at the door. The way this is sprung on the customer is a TOTAL RIPOFF.

Pros: Very swanky club.

Cons: "Surprise" inability to see the show unless you are standing on a small space or pay huge bottle fees.
