Editorial Review for Bouchon at the Venetian – by Heather Wood
In Short
This bustling French restaurant's close tables and neighborhood vibe inspire diners to exchange stories and clink wine glasses. Bright light fills the space, furnished with dark-wood booths and Parisian murals. Simple salads help save room for the oyster bar, which overflows with shellfish. Entrees stick to the bistro template: Roasted lamb in thyme jus, slabs of steak--and everything comes with fries. Health-conscious eaters will find that few menu items are spared a rich sauce.

I was impressed the minute I walked into the restaurant as it gives a marvelous french bistro vibe. Based on the ambience, I expected an expensive menu, yet the dishes are priced very reasonably and the dishes were excellent too. The restaurant's oysters are very fresh, although quite small in size, it's still worth the try. The fries were great, and some of the main dishes like the Roasted Chicken and the mussels are also excellent.

We love the French Laundry and decided to try Bouchon. The service was very good and generally friendly, the menu was quite difficult to read. We and the couple at the next table kept on asking each other what was on the menu - at least we had fun with it. The onion soup was tasteless - like it was made using bouillion cubes and quite salty. The oxtail was very pretty but wayyyy too salty - it wasn't edible. The onion soup was replaced with carrot soup which was good. Dessert: the french donuts - truly wonderful and outstanding. If we go again we would order dessert only and coffee.
