Awful service – Do not go here. This restaurant has awful customer service. Just ate there a month ago and the wait staff treated us horribly.
Terrible service, waitress forged my signature – WAITRESS FORGES SIGNATURES!
My friends and I ate there a few months ago. We split the bill and each person paid $36. We gave the waitress $72 in cash and charged the rest on our credit cards.
3 weeks later, I receive my credit card statement and the waitress charged me for the entire amount. She took the cash and put the total on my credit card! Then, when I called the restaurant, I found out that the waitress had been "let go" 1 week after we ate there.
I went back to the restaurant and they would not own up to it even though the waitress had been let go. They said I had to go through the credit card company and they were not responsible.
First off, we received the worst service that day. We had 6 people so the waitress knew that the automatic service charge would be applied. She never brought us the bread basket, and she forget to bring us the drinks we ordered. We waited for 20 minutes after we got our food before receiving the drinks. The entire time, she ignored us and was very condescending. That's probably why she got let go.
The restaurant would not take responsibility for this though. They were the ones that hired that terrible waitress. Plus, they fired her.
I am still disputing the charge but I wanted to make sure everyone here knew about my terrible experience.
Worst Steak I Have Ever Eaten – This place is fine - it's a decent approximation of a French bistro, two of my friends at the table were served two of the absolute worst steaks I've ever tasted. They had the consistency of a microwaved Hungry Man dinner. Seriously. And this isn't me just bitching or being annoying. My chicken entree was actually really good. But this steak was perhaps the worst thing I've ever been served in a restaurant of any level. I mean if there's one thing a French bistro anywhere in the world should be able to do well, it's Steak Frites. Obviously, onion soup is the other and based on the reviews here we didn't even touch that one. Add this to the list of basics they can't seem to grasp. Uch. Disgusting.
Great price and service – I was impressed the minute I walked into the restaurant as it gives a marvelous french bistro vibe.
Based on the ambience, I expected an expensive menu, yet the dishes are priced very reasonably and the dishes were excellent too.
The restaurant's oysters are very fresh, although quite small in size, it's still worth the try.
The fries were great, and some of the main dishes like the Roasted Chicken and the mussels are also excellent.
Does Not Meet Expectations – We love the French Laundry and decided to try Bouchon. The service was very good and generally friendly, the menu was quite difficult to read. We and the couple at the next table kept on asking each other what was on the menu - at least we had fun with it.
The onion soup was tasteless - like it was made using bouillion cubes and quite salty. The oxtail was very pretty but wayyyy too salty - it wasn't edible. The onion soup was replaced with carrot soup which was good.
Dessert: the french donuts - truly wonderful and outstanding. If we go again we would order dessert only and coffee.
Highly reccomened – I read many reviews on Bouchon as there are so many French options in Vegas. I was very happy that I chose to dine here. We were seated right away and the server was very friendly. Started out with two dozen mussels which were a great value. 2nd course was the app special, escargot, it was very nice. I went with a special again for my main course and was very pleased. Just a month ago I ate at the Effiel Tower rest. in the Paris hotel....I would say this was 90% as good as that meal for 50% of the price. Very good value compared to other offerings in Vegas. With so many choices in Vegas it's hard to return to any place but I will reccomend Buchon and even dine here again on my next trip.
Great food and great service! – I took my girlfriend to Bouchon for dinner as part of a weekend Vegas trip for her birthday. When making the reservation, I asked for a quiet romantic table and mentioned the birthday occasion; the staff did not dissapoint. They sat us at a large and comfortable booth which was also in a relatively quiet part of the restaurant. We ordered the "petit plat" of seafood along with soup and salad and everything was fresh and rich in flavor. Without making any request, they then brought out a spread of deserts for us to celebrate the special occasion. I will recomend Bouchon to anyone looking for good food, good service and appropriately priced fare.
consistently disapointing – No one could say I did not give it a fair shake. Based on the reputation of this restaurant I made a second 'forgiveness' visit with the same underwhelming results.
Firstly the positive: the service was great both times. The wine list is nice but rather over-priced. Another reason I felt so compelled to make a second visit was the boudin noir, which was delicious and at least as good as any I've had in France.
This being said, however, the rest of the food has been the greatest disappointment of both of my visits (the second being much worse). French bistro food is my favorite and I have long admired the Bouchon cookbook. They seem to capture many of the trappings and appearance of French cuisine while missing the flavor and spirit of it. The onion soup tasted like stock and was underseasoned and poorly gratineed. Then the oxtail stew was so over-salted it was barely edible. The charcuterie plate was all saucisson sec and uninteresting. My girlfriend had the tarte au citron for dessert, which we also didn't care for. The crust was hard and way too thick and the filling was over-cooked and dry. The greatest offender however was the cheese. I ordered a tomme crayeuse on my second visit, which is one of my favorites. What arrived seemed closer to monterey jack. The rind was cut off and the cheese was firm, white and flavorless.
Overall my biggest gripe with the place is that it takes a cuisine that is in spirit simple, humble and beautiful and transplants it into a pretentious and hyped-up setting while consistently missing the mark. Quite disappointing.
Wonderful dining experience! – I saw Bouchon on the Travel Channel and wanted to check it out for myself. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the mussels and olives to start along with the freshly baked bread. I had the salmon which was in a fantastic red wine sauce and my sister had the sausage which she said was the best she ever tasted. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Worst dinning experience ever – My wife and I are French food lovers and decided to try to this place out. The decor was beautiful so it was pleasant initially. After sitting down, the waitress asked us if we wanted flat water or sparkling water. Since both of us don't like Evian water, we just wanted tap water so I said flat. We were suprised when she pull out a bottle of Evian water but decided to let that go.
My wife ordered the trout and I got the roast chicken with French fries, both signature dishes at Bouchon. My chicken was decent. About the same as what I get at Boston Market. Fries was eatable. About the sames as Denny's. But being a nice guy, I told the waitress the food was nice. My wife's entree was another story. The dish looked very good but one bite into the meat we knew that this was spoiled fish. The waitress came and insisted the fish is fresh but willing to get us something else. We got the steak with fries and asked to cook it medium. It came after 20 minutes and was cook rare. We were upset so decided to to pay our bill and leave. For the first time in my life, I decided not to pay tip. Since this experience was just horrible.
After coming home and check our credit card, I saw that the restaurant put tips on my bill event though I didn't authorize it. I was in a state of shock and couldn't believe they did that. Thomas Keller if you're reading this, please fix up your restaurant or this will ruin your reputation.
