Editorial Review for THEhotel at Mandalay Bay Resort – by Lily Fu

In Short
Operating independently of Mandalay, this sleek hotel exudes modern elegance. Standard suites are 725 square feet and furnished in dark woods and earth tones. Separate living areas include plasma televisions, private bars, plush chairs and sofas. Bedrooms offer fluffy down comforters and pillow-top mattresses. For decadent pampering, the Bathhouse spa--decorated in dark stone and shaped by geometric spaces, light and water--offers an array of treatments, as well as whirlpools, steam rooms and mud baths.

This was not my first neither my last trip to Las Vegas, but definitely the first and the last stay at THE Hotel. Having stayed in Mandalay, Bellagio and Wynn we thought to try THE hotel as it sounded really promising on paper. THE reality - it is a dark, mediocre hotel with a very weird entrance from the garage. There is no other entrance to this hotel, right from the parking lot! Greenish glass used to build this hotel makes you look like you were dead in your room in a daylight. Believe me, it was not b/c of the heavy drinking the night before. Customer service is bad. In order to get message from the receptionist, one have to stand the long line of people checking it, and when asked for room service your coffee ($17.00) arrives lukewarm 20 min later. If you are thinking to use the spa, make sure you are OK with expensive mediocre services and an attitude from personnel. There are definitely better hotels in Las Vegas!

Excellent experience. Staff was very helpful. Since we were there on our honeymoon our room was upgraded to a V suite for free. The view was top notch and there was nothing to complain about. I lost my debit card on the trip and the front desk was very helpful - they called all of the places I visited that day and put me in touch with their security departments. We loved that their was no casino in the hotel, but we did not have go outside to reach 2 casinos. Highly recommend!
