A sophisticated crowd gathers in this chic lounge, which features recessed private booths and dynamic images projected on tables.
Prepare to be treated like the steerage on the Titanic
by noisycow at Citysearch
It doesn't matter if you dress well. It doesn't matter if you are 'attractive,' polite and rich.
This place is about putting you in your place socially!! lol I mean if you are into being treated poorly - some people dig that - go to Tabu.
Pay full cover, wait in a line (while the lounge is empty), and finally get inside. Every table - even the tiny ones have a prominent 'reserved' sign ALL NIGHT. Want to sit down? No way Jose! If you pay $400 for bottle service and you burn through that hourly or so + extravagant tips + tolerate the constant warnings that the people 'who really reserved the table" might be coming in any minute - you MIGHT be allowed to sit. Or you can pay $1500 for a dedicated Nicole Richie wannabe server to bring you drinks. That is for you. Not for your parties friends. They are also $1500 unless you communicate with them via two-way radio while they stand in the steerage area :).
You also get treated like a redhead stepchild at PURE, but at least there you might bump into a celebrity or two and they have that great upper deck area.
Here at TABU you get put in your place from the get go. Actually funny because it is over the top. Don't go unless you are into being treated like a leper or you really plan on blowing at least $1.5k on essentially average looking server/models - ie the Nicoles ....

disappointing...save your time and money and go elsewhere

We decided to go to Tabu for a birthday party and had a good size group (9 girls and 3 guys). We had reservations for a table and when we got there the guy at the door (Charlie) said he "forgot about the reservation." He pretends to scrabble to get a table and then starts to get really agitated that we had 3 guys with us. He tells us that he has to charge a cover for the guys ($20/per) if we want our table. He ended up charging the guys half price. In my opinion still too much for what was inside. When we got sat at the table I noticed several other tables still open (which never got filled while we where there). Only thing going for this place is the music, great DJ. There is little to no dance floor and the entire place is disappointing small. Needless to say, after our bottle was empty we headed over to Studio 54 where we all had a GREAT time. I've been to other ultra lounges on the strip and I will never go back to this one.
- Pros: good music
- Cons: rude door man, small place, no dance floor
Disorganized, careful if you buy your tickets on-line
by mariefrancovich at Citysearch
Another NYE rant. We got out tickets on-line for five; The staff at the doors had us down for only 3 tickets, what would have happened if we did not have our on-line confirmations on hand? That?s a $300 mistake!! We wanted to gamble on the floor and then come back in and they told us that if they got packed they would not allow it. Seriously? At $150 a ticket? Yes, and what was up with the dance floor? A 4X6 space to dance on is ridiculous for a night club and that empty VIP section in the middle of the floor was a waste of space. Why? I will not go back. However, DJ Homicide rocked, it?s too bad there was nowhere to dance
- Pros: Great DJ
- Cons: Small dance floor
