With more than 50,000 electronic items in each store, this high-tech superstore offers one-stop shopping and service for professionals and hobbyists.. In Short
Family-founded in the heart of Silicon Valley in 1985, Fry's has become a staple for technophiles in the Western U.S. Keeping up with the latest technological trends, it offers quality computer hardware and software, audio and video equipment and telecommunication products. Each store, which range in size from 50,000 to 180,000 square feet, decorates the aisles with its own unique theme--from Alice in Wonderland to Atlantis--making every shopping trip a fun experience.

Fry's, the gold plated t*rd of Vegas computer retailers. I had to think very carefully before awarding this viper pit of commerce a one-star rating, and only because there simply is no alternative in Las Vegas now that CompUSA is no more. Otherwise, they merit no stars. Selection on the web is virtually unlimited, and often at a better price, but nothing can beat a brick-and-mortar experience, particularly if some critical computer component has just failed and you need it NOW. That said, your shopping experience at this establishment will frequently be so distasteful that you may well determine that a 24 to 72 hour delay in product procurement is preferable.

I WANTED to like this store. Hailing originally from San Francisco, I had a good experience with Fry's computer store on the Peninsula. Fry's "Las Vegas Experience," however, was akin to Star Trek transporter accident, landing you in the evil Mirror Universe, where good is bad, up is down, and most people are just generally nasty because they like being so. SciFi allusions aside, the Vegas Fry's does everything wrong, particularly in customer service (with the general exception of the cashiers who try hard to be pleasant and helpful - but hey, the salesman, technical staff and managers have even more contempt for them than the customer).

The only good thing you can say for this store is its extraordinarily diverse assemblage of product - every other aspect of your shopping experience will range from minimally irritating to the downright repugnant, particularly dealings with technical support drones and mid to upper level management hacks, all of whom have worked hard to polish the fine art of dissembling. One would think the company trains its employees to lie, cheat or steal in order to close the sale. I know because they tried to cheat me twice in the last month through false advertising and outright lies on the part of the sales staff. If you absolutely don't need it today, go to a competitor (Circuit City or Best Buy) or buy online. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

Can't believe they are still in business!!. The customer service at Fry's has to be the worst I have EVER experienced!!! I have been trying for almost 1/2 hour to speak with someone and the phone just rings and rings and rings. For a place the size of WalMart it's unbelievable they can't staff someone to answer the phone. This company will go under once the word gets out about their BS service they offer. All I wanted to know was whether or not a part was in stock before I drove 25 minutes to their store. A person finally answered the phone and of course she could not help me and the manager was not available. F Fry's!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Prices are Nullified by Their Horrible Customer Service -- Don't go there!. I bought the service agreement on a computer I bought at Fry's. What a mistake that was. I had to have a new video card in December, and then it went out again in February of this year. They advertise the fact that they give you a loaner to use, but the process to get the loaner is so complicated that I'm sure most people give up. It takes about an hour to check it out, in addition to the wait time standing in line for customer service in the first place (usually about an hour for that) You can't call to check on when it will be ready (it was almost a month the first time and we are in week 3 this time) because either they don't answer the phone, or they put you on hold and never come back. Next time, I will pay twice as much if I have to, to get a real service contract and I will buy my computer somewhere that doesn't make me feel like a welfare case. I am totally disgusted with their service.
