Avoid this Star Taxi Cabs at all cost. On 7/26/12 we caught cab #2210 at 9:50pm we were leaving the Plaza hotel downtown to go to Circus Circus. It cost us $11.00 to go to the Plaza but cost us $17.50 to go back. The driver went on the freeway, that was cool but he was driving 50 MPH just raking up the cost while cars were speeding by us. We told the driver we didn't appreciate being taken advantage of. He never said a word, I don't even know if he understood. Some young guys were going to get into his cab and we stopped them and told them what had happened. I will tell everyone I know about the service we got from Star. Never again.
Star Cab Overcharges.
To summarize our complaint lodged with the Star Cab Supervisor last night, we took a Star Cab from the Golden Nugget Hotel directly to the airport. The hotel hailed a cab from a waiting line of vehicles and the time was near 7:00 p.m. The cab driver was Caucasian we believe with a very slight build and a long thin goatee (fu man chu style) about 5’ 6” tall. He drove us around the back of the mall adjoining our hotel and then found his way to a freeway. It was very dark but we could clearly see the Mandalay Bay Hotel, and it appeared that we traveled in a wide counter clockwise circle around it on the free way as we made our way to the airport. We arrived at the airport at about 7:15 p.m. The charge was within $0.25 of $41.00, which I paid with two $20.00 bills and a $5.00 bill. This left him with a small tip because we felt that we had been over charged. We felt this because when we arrived last Thursday, we took a cab from the airport to our hotel in which the cab driver used surface streets, and the charge with her was $33.00 – $8.00 less.
My wife checked out the cab number while I was retrieving our luggage and paying the bill. She believed it to be #2323, but your investigation last night proved that to be wrong. When we entered the airport to check our bags at 7:20 p.m., the Spirit representative encouraged us to call in a complaint. He agreed with us that the charge should have been much less. He also said that the cab companies like to hear if a customer feels they have been overcharged because it helps them keep their cab drivers honest. You also expressed much the same sentiment after we spoke with you. I hope you are able to track down the correct cab driver and help us recover the over charge.
We never heard back fron the supervisor, Don Melton!
Avoid at all costs..
I don’t know if the restaurant I ate at had to call three different taxi services but it took 3 calls for a taxi to actually come to me.
Anyway, the driver did not speak to me. This could be attributed to him having a bad day or the like but then he pulled out his Blackberry and called someone. Next, he actually texted while driving the cab. This happened on January 13th, 2012 at about 7:00 PM. The ride was from Metro Pizza on Tropicana Ave. to the Harrah’s hotel on the strip. I didn’t get the taxi drivers name or cab number but the cab’s license plate was 976ULP. Next time I will refuse to pay a texting taxi driver.
