What People Are Saying About Simon Restaurant & Lounge

Featured Review

In Short – One the most striking dining rooms in all of Vegas, Simon's is a visual treat to the eye as well as a satisfying treat to the stomach. The space overlooks the sparkling Palms Place pool, and floor-to-ceiling glass window walls give the room a voyeuristic feel. Fireplaces, both inside and out, add to the cozy atmosphere, while early accents like bamboo, slate and stone shows Simon's natural side. As for the menu, expect Simon's sinature dishes such as the ahi tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes, braised short ribs, and of course, pink cotton candy for dessert.

Editor's Tips

When to Go:
Simon's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Where to Sit:
Large groups and celebrities often prefer the private dining rooms or two chef's tables, but some saddle up to the sushi bar or just have cocktails in the adjoining lounge.
What to Drink:
Simon has one of the country's largest selections of small bottle sake and an impressive menu of bio-dynamic organic wine.
The Extras:
A greenhouse wall for the chef's herbs and micro-greens is the focal point of the main dining room.

Good restaurant

by lvhothead at Citysearch

Cool place, good food, easy access. Brunch half from the menu, and half as a buffet, works well. Similar to Hash House a GoGo but much nicer environment.

  • Pros: poolside, casual, food

Disappointing and oh so LAZY!

by mberniker at Citysearch

I had several pleasant meals at Simon back when it was at the Hard Rock. Nothing special: but food was always clean and fresh and service was always professional. Not so at his new outlet at the Palms. My #1 problem is that the menu really hasn't changed...ever. So what maybe used to be innovative Asian fusion is now SO tired and bored and there are so many people who do it better. The one special that looked intriguing: a white truffle polenta (reasonably priced at $20) was sold out--(and really, it's a shame to sell out of white truffles because it makes you look like you're either a cheapskate and didn't want to lay out the money for them, or you don't have the clout to get enough!) Now to the service: the hostess was warm and friendly and one waiter seemed great, unfortunately I didn't have him but at least he noticed I had no utensils when my main course came, and addressed it (my waiter was nowhere to be found.). I understand the benefits of casual, understated service, but this is too casual to the point where they don't really seem to care about the food, or you (with the sold exception of the captain who came by several times and each time called me something like 'chief' or 'champ'--now why would anyone thing that would be proper or appreciated. I'd never go back again.

  • Pros: Pretty room
  • Cons: Overly casual service, sub-par food, boring menu

AVOID AVOID RUN AWAY! You'll thank me.

I went to Simon Las Vegas in August and I took 5 clients with me and I must say, I was quite embarrassed for taking them to a place like this. I am in the fashion industry and there is nothing trendy or high-end about Simon. The service is terrible not because any one is rude, but because the waitresses do not have a clue on what high -end service is. For example, chocolate molten cake was presented as "yummy cake with chocolate goo inside" Real classy. The other trick is the food. It is over priced and not edible. If you like bland or over salted simple foods, go ahead but expect to leave feeling tricked after you receive your bill. Out of the 6 entrees, all 6 were bad. I thought it couldn't get any worse, but then the dessert. .. they serve cotton candy...literally as a dessert choice. High-end is written all over there website..and then you get the above. I am from NYC and believe me Simon would never make it here. Simon is lucky to be in Las Vegas so they can trick everyone once and still survive. The decor is not that great either. Don't be fooled by the website. It doesn't look at all like it. It seems like an amateur interior designer decided to mix all of his or her favorite "trendy" things and put it all in one room. Asian influence meets pub meets bar scene meets pool meets junk food meets steak house meets cheap design all mushed together. I usually never write bad reviews because I consider myself to be an avid supporter of new businesses, but this place is so bad and so frustrating that I had to write this review. If you want to impress, Save yourself money, time, bad food and embarrassment and run away!

Go if you never have been to a nice restaurant and you would have nothing else to compare it to. But even then, you will wish you stayed home and cooked your own meal.

  • Pros: NOTHING RUN AWAY!
  • Cons: Terrible food, service, and cheesy decor

Good food, okay service

by carlson_b at Citysearch

I would return to Simon with the right group but while some aspects of the dinner were great others were lacking. I went with a group of 6 and the appetizers for the table were good but nothing was spectacular. Same with the entrees and side items, and the desserts included a large plate of cotton candy which was interesting but not unique enough to make it exciting. Our server was very friendly but let drinks become dry as he left our table for long periods and didn't provide much useful input on the menu. Overall, it was a nice restaurant that didn't do anything badly but also didn't do much great either.

  • Pros: Generally good food, nice ambience, good for a group
  • Cons: Nothing spectacular, service only okay

DID NOT SATISFY MY BEEF CRAVINGS

by jaylaurino at Citysearch

this guy won battle beef on iron chef so i thought for sure i would get a great steak here. i was VERY DISSAPOINTED in my steak! i ordered a ribeye and it had no fat! (FAT EQUALS FLAVOR!)a ribeye should be a well marbled lusious flavorful cut of beef! this was very lean and had no flavor at all, it was not that tender also,i also ordered the iron chef burger for a app, nothing special, the service was very good the sides where good , but if you are use to big flavorfull prime dry aged beef you will be very dissapointed in your meal. i guess there aim is to please the younger hip crowd who is not interested in a well marbled steak,i guess if you stay away from the beef you could have a very nice meal here.

  • Pros: nice room very good service
  • Cons:  tasteless steak!
