I heard that House Of Lords was the place to be during the days of Sammy Davis Jr. Frank Sinatra, & Dean Martin. I think this place has seen better days. The food was lousy, the service was very slow, and they were not busy. For what I paid I expected much more. If you are looking for good fine dining try Top Of The World, just across the street at Stratosphere.

From a recent trip to Las Vegas with friends, we decided we wanted a decent sit down dinner. From a friend's recommendation from the night before, we went to House of Lords. Reservations were at 9pm. Yes, we were 10 minutes late, but the the staff started complaining to the party that showed up on time for a table in the back in a half filled restaurant. It took about 15 minutes for us to get our drink orders in. another 20-30 minutes to order our appetizers and entrees. The waiter kept telling us he'd come by to take our orders as soon as possible and proceeded to walk away to converse with another employee. After an hour and a half, we asked about our food and complained about the wait. So our waiter told us that it was one dish holding everything up. We told them to just bring whatever they had out. after another 20 minutes, we finally got our food. 2 of the dishes were prepared incorrectly. Another dish didn't have any sauce on it and when we asked about that the waiter proceeded to explain that the sauce was freshly made. still doesn't explain why the sauce didn't come out when the food did. the staff kept returning to our table giving us lip about why it took so long. they continued to say that it was a high quality restaurant and that food preparations take extra long. They also spoke to us as though we'd never stepped into a restaurant that anything but burgers. The lamb I ordered was fatty yet dry. I had to cut away half of it after almost throwing up from biting down on a piece of pure fat and had to accompany every other bite with a sip of water so i could chew it and not feel like i had sandpaper in my mouth. It got to the point where I had to tell the staff to leave us alone and let us enjoy what was left of our dinner. I'll never go back. the dessert that they gave us as "compensation" was horrid. it was rich for the wrong reasons. took one bite and just drank more water. Horrible restaurant. An absolute disgrace to food and service.

We make sure to stop at House of Lords on every trip we take to Vegas 4-6 a year. Because this restaurant is hidden one of Vegas' older hotels, it seems to be overlooked. We get excellent service, have never had to wait without a reservation, and enjoy some amazing food for resonable rates. The decor is a little dated, as is the rest of the Sahara, but the food more than makes up for it. I highly reccomend the Lobster Bisque to start, served with a puff pastry on top, it's worth the visit itself, and is a steal at about $6.95. I also reccomend their steaks and prime rib, and take advantage of the giant baked Idaho Potato, enough for 2 people, although don't pass up their whipped potatoes, get them both. Come back later for great deserts, trust me there won't be room until later. Enjoy!
