The Second City Las Vegas Editorial Review
The Idea
Since its beginnings in 1959, when a group of talented (albeit unemployed) University of Chicago students got together to perform unrehearsed scenes, Second City has been building a different vehicle for comedy, which has spawned the careers of many household names, including Chris Farley, Dan Ackroyd and Gilda Radner. The system, still being perfected today, relies on concepts rather than scripts, scenes rather than acts. Often the theme will be directed by audience suggestions, hence demonstrating the spontaneity of the genre.
The Show
The opportunity to catch one of these shows should not be missedyou never know when the next John Belushi may be coming down the pike. Or for that matter, if perhaps you could be Second City's next success story. Second City also offers classes for the humor-challenged at its Chicago, Detroit, Toronto and (brand new) Las Vegas locations.
