Not necessarily Chinese. Spectacular Asian-inspired cuisine is served in generous portions, dramatically presented and meant for sharing. Reservations suggested.

In Short – Across the way from Red Square (all vodka, all the time) and rumjungle (ditto, but substitute rum), this restaurant has a built-in fun quotient. The ultra-contemporary, neo-Asian decor creates a feeling of dining on the Pacific Rim of the future. The grill offers small plates with lots of flavors and doodads. There's plenty of experimentation with Szechuan beef, crispy duck and tempura sashimi. Presentations are architectural and high style. –
Bad Service, Bad Food, Bad Experience...Oh yeah, Overpriced too!

We wouldn't consider ourselves picky diners, but this place just didn't do it for us. My significant other and I read the previous 16 reviews BEFORE dining at China Grill and were expecting the following: great service, large portions (to share), great dining atmosphere (contemporary style), and tasty food. China Grill delivered only one of the above: the contemporary style.
Here's what we received, instead:
1. A rude server with a grouchy attitude that passed us on to another server without informing us halfway through our meal.
2. Ordered the Schezwan Steak thinking it would be large enough for two people to share (this is what China Grill prides themselves on.) The steak tasted pretty good, but the portion certainly wasn't enough for even one person so we ended up ordering more food. We think the slow economy (and hence 40% full restaurant on a Sat night) is the reason why they are skimping out on food portions now.
3. The style and decor of the restaurant is nice if you are in to the contemporary look (like we are.) Lighting was excellent and the bathrooms were clean and tidy.
Looks like the recession is affecting the attitude of the servers and, unfortunately, that attitude (and portion size) gets passed on to the diners at a hefty price.
Save your time and hard earned money and dine elsewhere.
- Pros: Contemporary style, Decor, Clean and tidy bathrooms.
- Cons: Service, Servers had attitude, Food Quantity, Value
Not your typical Asian experience-Fantastic Sushi

We have dined in many different restaurants in Las Vegas and recently ate at China Grill in Mandalay Bay and we were very impressed with the cuisine and service at this spectacular multi-million dollar restaurant that features a main dining room which is a replica of a hollowed wine barrel with a unique ceiling light show during service. They recently added a sushi to menu with a Japenese trained Chef named Wai whose eclectic twists to well known dishes were fantastic. The main entrees we ordered were a Kalbi marinated Rib Eye (20 OZ bone in) and their Shanghi Lobster in a coconut curry plum cream sauce and crispy spinach that was the best whole lobster dish we ever tried. We agreed the price point was very resonable for a family style concept that emphasized variety, quality and team service. Go check out this great surpirse...
The WORST dining experience I've ever had!

While vacationing in Vegas with a small group of about 15 people, we picked up a menu from China Grill. The menu sounded great, so we made reservations for that night. When we arrived we were a little suspicious as to why we were the only customers in there (never a good sign for a restaurant), and why it took over 25 minutes to be seated (we had a reservation, and it?s not like they were busy or anything.) We decided to have a drink at the bar (the bartender was very friendly) and check out the bathrooms (way cool!) while waiting for our table. Finally we were seated, and our waitress started out fine. She made some great sake suggestions and took our appetizer orders. She came back and took everyone?s dinner orders. Then we didn?t see her for over an hour. Someone else brought out some appetizers, which were so small we ordered more. They never came. And neither did our dinner. A couple of the people at the far end of the table received their dinners and had finished eating by the time our waitress came back to check on us. When we asked why our food hadn?t arrived, she started sobbing (yes, sobbing) and said that there was a miscommunication in the kitchen and only part of the order was prepared. Our second round of appetizers had not even been started. By this time, we had been there for over 2 hours. Although we felt bad for her we made it clear to the waitress that if she just would have checked on our table once, she would have realized there was a problem. We asked to speak to a manger that provided the worst customer service ever. No apology, no explanation, no offer to make it right. He told us to leave if we weren?t happy. We went somewhere else and will never be back. Think twice before dining here.
- Pros: cool bathrooms, great sake
- Cons: terrible service
