Editorial Review for Strip House – by Keith Wagstaff
The Scene
Just stepping into this steakhouse feels naughty; nude female silhouettes grace the wallpaper and napkins, burlesque stars smile from photos on the wall, and blood-red lighting lends the restaurant a seductive glow. Groups of older, moneyed clientele sit listening to the day's specials from attentive, formally dressed waiters.
The Food
Satiate your culinary cravings with a pair of jumbo sea scallops, which are pan-seared to crispy perfection on the outside, leaving the inside to melt decadently in the mouth. The standout entree is the New York strip steak. Cooked exactly to specifications, its tender interior and peppery outside meld seamlessly with the roasted garlic and steak sauce. Even the sides are lusty: The creamed spinach gets kissed with a pleasant hint of black truffles. For one last indulgence, order the grand chocolate profiterole--creamy milk chocolate and bittersweet ice cream stuffed in a slightly bready puff pastry and topped with streams of chocolate syrup.

We dined at the Strip House on 6/29 and had an overall outstanding experience. As foodies from Seattle, we agonized over which steak house to try... all seem to have some loyal fans. We were seated promptly, our waiter was personable and knowledgeable, and the service was fantastic. I had the bone-in filet, which was perhaps the best steak I've ever tasted. Soooo tender, and the crisp tender outside was incredibly flavorful. The creamed spinach is a must... we could've skipped the goose fat potatoes, not the best. The profiterole for dessert is enormous... more than enough for 2. Bring your appetite, you won't walk away hungry.
Pros: Outstanding food (especially the steak)
Cons: Pricey, tables are very close together

9pm reservations, asked the maitre de at 9:15 how much longer, he stated 20 minutes, 20 minutes goes by ask him again, he says 20 minutes and was extremly rude and unprofessional. Eventually get seated after 45 minutes at the lounge area next to the crowded bar, not the main dining room. When the meal came out we aksed for salt, pepper and the correct sauce (they brought us the wrong one and insisted it was the right one!) - had to wait and wait and wait and ask a second time. Don't know why people love this place - the steak was ok - I have had much better steak at non-steakhouse restaurants and was treated much better. Service poor, wait time absolutely ridiculous, and so-so food. Not worth it.
Pros: Ambiance
Cons: Service, wait time, food
