Sadly this place is going to h_ll in a handbag.... We have been eating at Crown and Anchor for quite a while and it used to be awesome. We liked the fish, loved the burgers and the ribeye was tasty. the last few times the food has been just bad. Tonite was the last straw, the all you can eat fish and chips came with one extremely overdone piece of fish and it took so long to the next piece of fish that the other diner finished her entire ribeye dinner before it came. it was overcooked even worse than the first piece so I didnt bother ordering any more. We ordered Bass Ale on tap and though it came out of the tap that says Bass it looked and tasted like Newcastle. I mentioned it but it went in one ear and out the other because the second "Bass" was Newcastle too. The Ribeye was ordered Medium rare and received Medium well and it was just an unpleasant meal. Really sad to see it go downhill so badly. it will take a lot for us to go back…
This is not a safe area or place to be.
I am a brit living here for 2 years now, i am still searching for some good British food.
This place was recommended to me as a place to eat or hang out. I was mostly looking for some good old fashioned fish and chips, i was horrified on the day i visited this place.
It did kind of remind me of the old british pubs we used to frequent, apart from one thing (the Cockroaches)
I ordered my fish chips and peas with bread and butter like we brits would back home, i was very disappointed when it came it was nothing like good old fish and chips the way it should be, i mean how hard can it be to recreate.
I did try to eat some until i saw a cockroach run by my leg, that was it i was out of there like lightning believe me this place is what is known in England as a DUMP.
I love living here and don't miss England one bit except for the food if only the Americans could figure out our food, life would be perfect for allot of ex pats
I found the same problem when looking for a good chicken madras curry, I am trying out my 15th indian restaurant this weekend…
not a great place to be in. This is the most uncomfortable place I've ever been to. You would have to be white or be with a white person to get good service around here.
luvly jubbly. I asked for a bacon butty (not on the menu) with brown sauce, and I got a pretty decent approximation. It should have been on a hard roll, but they didn't have any. Still, the bacon, proper English bacon, is the most important bit, so I forgave the hamburger bun (closest thing they had) and just enjoyed it. They do have curry chips and chip buttys on the menu, as well as a proper English breakfast. I don't know about the beer/ale selection, because I'm just not much of a drinker. There was football on telly when I visited. Service was good, prices are good, and it wasn't too cold inside. I don't like more than a 25 degree difference between outside and inside, even if that means 80 degrees inside because it's scorching hot outside.…
Not a Rangers Bar. Home of the Las Vegas Celtic Supporters Club. Will charge Rangers Supporters to watch non PPV games ie. on Fox Soccer Channel, ESPN, etc.
