Editorial Review for Voodoo Lounge at Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino – by Gregory Crosby
In Short
The vibe here is voodoo priestess-meets-George Clinton, with spooky low-lit rooms, black walls etched with petroglyphs and incense wafting in the hallway. An open-air deck with spectacular views becomes a rooftop party with go-go dancers, fire twirlers, DJs, leather couches and two bars. Guests settle at small tables to take in the live music and sip bizarre cocktails with names like Truth Serum, Shrunken Head and Jamaican Hellfire--each served with ghost-shaped swizzle sticks.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyGo early--there's no cover charge if you get to the lounge before 8pm.
Look GoodDress up. The folks at the VooDoo can be sticklers for the dress code.
Know Before You GoThe specialty drinks are extremely potent. It may be a good idea to start at the cafe downstairs for some eats before heading to the lounge.

Don't be fooled if there is a line to get in. It's not that the place is popular, it's just tiny! Most of the space is taken up by people waiting in line at the bar for drinks. The "dance floor" is any space you can find that doesn't have someone standing on it. The VIP room takes up half the space, when we were there it was completely empty (while the rest of the bar was crowded). The view was nice, but everything else was less than impressive. We didn't even bother waiting in line for drinks, we just went downstairs and played slots and got drinks for free. If you want the real Vegas nightclub experience, might as well just go to Pure.
Pros: The view
Cons: Everything else

threw my 30th bday here. invited 50 friends to join me from LA and beyond. considered getting a VIP table but decided against. way to pricey for that many. plus, i figured we wouldn't be sitting at a table for too long anyway. i was right. had dinner first for about 15 at the cafe. had everyone meet up about 10p. i requested the management for a guest list and they were pretty cool to oblige. had to get everyone in though by midnite, but, that was expected. no covers for all my guests, guys and girls. quite surprised they were so accomodating. partied the nite away. the views from the top are AWESOME! it got crazy crowded later on. the Baker to Vegas Run was the same weekend. drinks are mad $$$ but, hey, it's vegas and i only turn 30 once! the crowd is a little less pretentious than the other clubs on the strip. also slightly more mature. well, as mature as you can be with all the alcohol flowing.
Pros: views, relatively accomodating staff, 2 outdoor floors
Cons: $$$ drinks
