The Scene
Small, dark and ultrahip, the Viper Room pulls in Hollywood locals, celebrities and tourists looking to hear live tunes, dance to DJ-spun beats or grab a drink. With only a few (typically reserved) black-vinyl booths lining the walls, the venue is generally standing room only. When not restricted to VIPs, the small downstairs lounge is relaxing, boasting plush seats and TVs simulcasting the upstairs action.
The Draw
This Sunset Strip haunt has become gradually more famous for its music and surprise celebrity appearances than for the shenanigans of young stars (typified most tragically by River Phoenix's death on the sidewalk outside the club in 1993). The small upstairs bar lends itself easily to intimate rock shows, which are especially memorable when the likes of Tom Petty, Pearl Jam and Iggy Pop decide to stop by and jam.

I'm new to the area - and I had heard much about the Viper Room... When my friend brought me there on a Sunday night, of all nights, I was plesently surprised! Not only was the place crowded with cool people, but I got to see an awesome ROCKING local LA band! I didn't think the indie scene was alive anymore - but this was AMAZING! Their name is AutoMatique...and now i have seen them at a few shows - I would recommend to anyone to check them out... Especially if they're playing the Viper Room! Thanks to the Viper Room for a good time. I'll definitly be there again. I would love to see how this club holds up on a Sat or Fri..
Pros: Music! Great Band!
Cons: Drinks may be a bit expensive..but worth it!
